Funding

The PML Research Grants aim at fostering research and education in quantitative methodology and provide funding for a variety of methods-related projects. The grants are administered by the PML, with generous support from the Department of Political Science. Projects potentially eligible for funding include:

  • Research projects seeking to develop new quantitative methods
  • Empirical research projects involving innovative use of advanced quantitative methods
  • Projects for Course 17 undergraduate subjects that involve quantitative analysis

Grants can be disbursed for activities that are required for conducting the research itself, disseminating outputs from the research, or fulfilling the goals of the educational project. Examples of expenses that can be covered by the grants are: payments for data collection such as online surveys, purchase of computer software licenses, books, travel to conferences, and expenses for holding workshops.

Applications for the 2023-24 Grants are now open and considered on a rolling basis. Faculty, graduate and undergraduate students who are affiliated with the Department of Political Science are all eligible to apply. The grants will be approved upon successful review until the funds are exhausted for the year. The maximum amount that can be requested for a project is $1,000. The same individual can be approved for up to two grants per academic year.
